|
This view of the Rose Wreath Quilt, which was made by Ruth Payne Bever prior to 1861, shows it on display at the Northwest Quilters 25th Annual Quilt Show. The Northwest Quilters show was held March 25 - 27, 1999, at Portland State University in downtown Portland, Oregon.
It was also displayed at the Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon during the Christmas season of 1993; was the featured quilt at the 1999 quilt show at the Milwaukie Center in Milwaukie, Oregon; was displayed in the 1997 Aurora Colony, Oregon quilt show; and was one of the 100 quilts featured in the 1999 PBS program "Quilts of Oregon".
Ruth Payne Bever made this quilt prior to her marriage to Joseph Bever. She was born February 2, 1836 in Vermillion County, Illionois; she married Joseph Bever on February 21, 1861 in Dallas County, Iowa; the family moved to Medford, Oregon in about 1883; she died April 6, 1922, at the age of 86, in Centralia, Washington.
This Rose Wreath Quilt has been handed down from Mother to Daughter for five generations.
